What is the most common meeting spot in Downtown St. John's? Should you ask this question, most anyone will say Big Banana Downtown...Big Banana has, over a period of twenty-one years, established itself as an entity that fulfills its mission - to provide great food, at a reasonable price in great ambience. This is what the three owners of Big Banana continue to strive for with their three restaurants: Big Banana Pizzas, Big Banana Airport Branch and "The Beach" restaurant.

The owners take great pride in handpicking a friendly, courteous staff always ready to deliver a great dining event in either location. It was a long time coming but the new Big Banana Restaurant is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown over the past 21 years by not only Jeff, Bernadette and Eddie but also the team that work with them.

The Beginning

Back in 1987, after working behind the bar at a newly opened pizza restaurant in St John's for a couple of years, Jeff - along with his brother and sister Eddie and Bernadette - purchased the business from the original owners. With only a couple of items on the menu and pizza being very new to Antigua, it was a risk but one that has paid off. In 1994 they won the bid to run the restaurant at the airport, which after renovations, opened that November. Then in June 1999, they took over Spinnakers Restaurant on Dickenson Bay, undertook major renovations and 18 months later opened as The Beach - the rest is history as they say!
